I went out for an hour of brisk walking around the neighborhood area (for the first time) yesterday. All these while I've wanted to do that like I always did back at home with Ayah. But here, the environment is different, the way people look at you is different, the culture is different. So, all I did was play badminton, jog by the beach, went to that gym and play futsal with the girls. But I love walking/jogging/brisk walks the most.
Note to self: Must get a Threadmill Machine someday!
According to Ayah and (some reading materials i read over the years) -In China, the recreational park are the most crowded places there. People from all ages went there to exercise. It's like scenery of shopping complexes in Malaysia. Now you get it why Malaysians are obese right? It's not having the skinniest figure that matters, it's how fit and healthy you should be. In my case, I'm aiming to have a much higher metabolism rate so that I could eat more and more without worrying too much :)
Here, I'd like to share the kind of questions I get when they see me walking alone.
1.
Pakcik : Nak pergi mana?
Me: Jalan-jalan, jogging.
Pakcik : (muka pelik)
2.
Makcik : Rajinnya jogging. Macam pernah nampak. Yang ni ke yang kerja tu ke?
Me : Erm, kerja. (*confused*mestilah kerja kan?takkan nak duduk diam tak buat apa kan?)
Makcik : Rajinnyaaaa. Selalu ke jogging?
Me : Takla. First time (smiles and continues walking)
1) Malaysians especially the Malays can be defined as friendly and caring and sometimes can be over-friendly and cares too much (menjaga tepi kain orang). It's the culture of Malaysians to greet people they saw everyday and smiling is also a good exercise for the face.
2) The neighborhood area is surrounded with housewives since their husbands work for the oil & gas industry/offshore and they on the other hand stay at home doing the housework. Maybe the makcik was being friendly and nice to me. There's no harm in that right?
P/S: All this while I've wanted to do this but was taken aback every time since I’m a social retard at times and don't like to be bothered when I'm doing my thing ;p
